12:43 Architects design treatment rooms in Le Corbusier colors

At SOHO Aesthetics, a practice clinic for plastic and aesthetic surgery, 12:43 Architects put the color concept at the center of the design.

A practice for plastic and aesthetic surgery in Stuttgart says goodbye to the industry-standard white and welcomes its clients in colorful rooms thanks to an interior design by 12:43 Architekten. Light switches in the "Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier" colors by JUNG enable a room design as if from a single mold.

Well-designed spaces can relieve patients* fear of treatment and promote healing. This has been proven by architectural psychology studies. Architect Steffen Bucher and interior designer Lars-Erik Prokop from the Stuttgart office 12:43 specialize in the design of medical practices. Natural materials and colors contribute to a relaxing atmosphere in their projects.

12:43 Architects from Stuttgart took their cue from Le Corbusier's color system, Polychromie Architecturale.

Round shapes, bold colors
At SOHO Aesthetics, a practice clinic for plastic and aesthetic surgery in Stuttgart, 12:43 Architects placed the color concept at the center of the interior design. Even the registration desk is highlighted by a delicate salmon tone. Wall and built-in cabinets seem to merge into each other. They are only interrupted by a light band. The soft effect is also contributed by the rounded shapes of the partitions. Shaped like half archways, they structure the floor plan. Their three-dimensionality is made clear by color contrasts between partly strong and partly pastel tones. Bright yellow-green meets a rich turquoise, delicate pastel tones meet a soft gray.

Model: Le Corbusier
These color combinations might seem quite familiar, because they are borrowed from Le Corbusier's color system, the Polychromie Architecturale. The architect attached as much importance to the color scheme as he did to the floor plan, and chose the tones so that they could be combined with each other.

To make the design look like it was all of a piece, 12:43 Architects chose the classic LS 990 in Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier from JUNG.

To make the design look as if it were all of a piece, 12:43 architects opted for the classic LS 990 in Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier from JUNG.

In order for the colors to unfold their effect, it's all about the detail. For the SOHO Aesthetics project, JUNG supplied light switches and socket outlets from the LS 990 range in the exclusive Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier colors to match the wall colors, which fit seamlessly into the interior of the practice rooms. JUNG is the only company in the world to offer this color variety with a total of 63 original shades. The color depth is achieved by painting by hand. This is also how the matt surface is created. Together with other details such as the uni-colored floor coatings, paintable, wall-flush door leaves or the omission of baseboards, the light switches contribute to the effect of the color concept of 12:43 Architects.

Individual treatment rooms
Each treatment room at SOHO Aesthetics has an individual atmosphere. With backlit, semi-transparent curtains and upholstered furniture, the result is an approachable, almost home-like ambiance. In contrast to the colorful treatment and waiting areas, the sanitary rooms are predominantly black. The glossy wall tiles and black washbasins have a noble effect and provide an element of surprise.

The design concept by 12:43 Architekten thrives on its radical implementation. All the details are restrained in favor of the big picture, even the light switches by JUNG are precisely coordinated with the color concept.
