Blue, purple or yellow? The glass objects by Hermann August Weizenegger for Theresienthal

Glass objects that look like a temple en miniature? What may sound confusing as an idea, the Bavarian crystal manufacturer Theresienthal has congenially translated into solid matter. The vases, lanterns, candles and bowls in the Pagoda collection were inspired by various temple complexes in Asia, such as Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Based on a design by the Berlin designer Hermann August Weizenegger, a series of crystal glass objects has been created that is characterized by a highly refined, handcrafted production technique: by striking facets in the crystal glass as well as by a fine matte tier cut with colored key elements in blue, purple and yellow. Formal references such as the base, facets, and special cuts are interpreted in different ways, so that the objects appear very different, but harmonize with each other in a strikingly beautiful way. As in sculpting, the objects are cut out of the solid glass, which is why they have a very architectural appearance. csh
