A Very Merry Christmas indeed! Lee Broom has designed a glass Christmas tree together with the glass manufacturer Nude. It now adorns the atrium of the "Aqua Shard" and shines from there onto the London skyline.

A noble fir, just grown, and smelling like a forest? Not necessarily! British product designer Lee Broom, together with glass manufacturer Nude, has designed an alternative. 245 glass luminaires hang in formation from the ceiling of the Aqua Shard restaurant in London, forming a six-meter-high transparent tree. The pyramid-shaped bodies of hand-blown glass taper to a fir-like point, reflecting the lights in the atrium of the Aqua Shard and competing with London's skyline. Lee Broom is one of Great Britain's leading product designers and has made a name for himself internationally since founding his studio in 2007: His lamps and objects have a playful Art Deco touch; his interiors appeal to fashion brands such as Christian Louboutin and Mulberry.

The Christmas tree in the atrium of the "Aqua Shard" has a long tradition: Before Lee Broom, Vivienne Westwood and Matthew Williamson already presented their own version of the fairytale-like "Christmas Tree".

The face of the Christmas tree in the "Aqua Shard" is eagerly awaited every year: Fashion designers Vivienne Westwood and Matthew Williamson already put up their interpretations here, and documentary filmmaker Sir David Attemborough also created a sea of lights in tree form in cooperation with Timothy Hatton Architects. Visitors can purchase a real branch of the "Trees of Glass" from November 15 for 150 pounds - but a little patience is required until their own Christmas arrangement: The 245 lights are unique and will only be shipped after the Christmas tree has been "cut down" in the new year.
