Green, Greener, Verdable
The Berlin-based design studio Beriana, founded by architects Anna Szczurek and Sophie Berianidze, creates a symbiosis between object and living being. With their table series Verdable they put plants in the center and subordinate the functional use of the furniture to them. The tabletop made of mirror glass floats above a cylindrical base; a cutout in the storage surface makes the tubular element, which is open at the top, usable as a plant container. While the weight of the humus additionally weighs down and stabilizes the table, the mirror reflects the plant. Thus, the greenery is not only potentiated and presented from an unusual angle; the visual fusion of plant and reflection also creates a brief moment of irritation. tp
