Bespoke living on 2000 square meters: Foz Design tailored a wonderful retreat for a New York couple.

The terraced house on the banks of the Hudson River blends into its surroundings with its facade of local wood and stone.

Actually, the "RiverBanks" in Saugerties was planned as a spacious weekend home. But what the multidisciplinary architecture and design studio Foz Design tailored to the body - and soul - of its New York clients is far more than that: a modern retreat against an exhilarating natural backdrop; open, but at the same time cozy and warm. "The landscape surrounding the house is breathtaking," enthuses Fauzia Khanani, founder of Foz Design, explaining that nature was a key source of inspiration for the architecture and furnishings of "RiverBanks. "We were concerned with creating a connection to the environment that could also be felt in the house."

The living room of the "RiverBanks" extends over two floors - through floor-to-ceiling windows one looks directly onto the Hudson River.
