JJ Martin now also designs tableware

JJ Martin

. Now vintage queen JJ Martin (below) has plates (set of 2 90 euros), tablecloths and aprons printed with it and provided with colored funds(left). If the table is so set, the celebration begins even before the meal. La DoubleJ

No, JJ Martin doesn't cook in high heels. The vintage lover from Milan is stylish from crown to sole - but that's exactly where the fun stops for her, for once: "When I prepare my favorite dishes, I can't stand mess in the kitchen. And I hate high heels!" She's happy to leave the am-herding-around-and-doing-things-despite-it-too to others. The founder of La DoubleJ would rather see to it that the dining table is in good shape: "There's nothing like the recipes of my Italian mother-in-law. And I enjoy every beautifully set table."

That's why JJ Martin no longer just offers wonderfully breezy, colorful summer dresses on her website and in the store in Piazza Arcole. There are now also plates, dessert plates and entire sets of traditionally mouth-blown colored glasses from Murano. For this, the vintage collector reached deep into her treasure chest, or more precisely: her archive, in which she hoards fantastic fabric samples from the 18th century to classical modernism. The decorations of the tableware come primarily from a former silk spinning mill in Como, including the "Stella Alpina" pattern, which she also added colored funds to. "When it comes to table decorations, I'm actually always guided by the mood I'm in at the time," says the California native. "You'd be amazed, it can also look very minimalistic. And sometimes I just want maximum fun." You can guess which style prevails at La DoubleJ.
